Our Story
THE STORY
WHAT IS ABS?
Amsterdam Boat Sessions (ABS) is a curated live music platform that captures intimate performances on the canals of Amsterdam. Artists perform on a boat while we film every moment with cinematic precision. Multiple cameras, professional audio, all combined into a visually striking session.
We sit somewhere between underground and premium. The sessions are raw and unfiltered, but the production is world-class. Think Boiler Room meets the Amsterdam canals. No audience, no distractions, just the artist and the water.
THE CONCEPT
The Boat
A carefully chosen vessel becomes the stage. Intimate, confined, and surrounded by water. It strips away everything except the music.
The Canals
Amsterdam's iconic waterways provide a backdrop like no other. The movement of light on the water, the historic architecture passing by. Every session is visually unique.
The Intimacy
No crowd. No stage barriers. Just the artist in their element, performing as if no one is watching. This rawness is what makes every session special.
The Production
Multi-camera setups, professional audio capture, and meticulous color grading. Every frame is crafted to feel cinematic.
THE TEAM
Amsterdam Boat Sessions was co-founded by Maarten Witte and Danny Hessing. Two creatives who share a deep love for music and Amsterdam's canals. Together, they are the complete crew: captaining the boat, operating every camera, handling the audio setup, and managing post-production. From sailing to editing, it's all done by the two of them.
This hands-on approach means every session has a personal touch. There's no big production team, just two people who care deeply about capturing music in its most honest, cinematic form. That intimacy behind the camera translates directly into what you see on screen.
